For all the IT kids out there who’ve had to take the HCI classes, the Jakob Nielson
Drinking Game should entertain you. For our non-IT readers, Jakob is the
world’s leading asshat on usability and ease of use of web pages and anything
technical. Problem is, he has the worst web-site known to man (google his
name if you want to find it), and doesn’t follow his own rules. So of course
he’s good enough for the IT department to base two classes of his ramblings,
go figure.

Long ass weekend. Friday was spent at the bars with Kirsten and her buddy
Lexi. The brit waiting on us decided he didn’t like the look of me, so he
decided to give me the most expensive beer in the place on the sly. No wonder
we were driven to kick their collective asses twice.
Speaking of countries I don’t like, Saturday was spent walking through IKEA up
in Canada, where I invested in a whole new bedroom set: desk, shelves, rugs,
the whole nine yards. Quite the improvement. The day was capped off by a
walk around Toronto (the redeeming part of Canada) and a midnight-3am drive
back to Rochester. It’s funny I always loved the view of Rochester on 490E
into the city, but I looked terribly plain after seeing Toronto hours before.
Ah well.
And the bills lost, 28-23.
This past week Dan brought Madden 2002 into the house, productivity has
crashed since. I shall be playing this game during as much free time as I can
manage. No word on whether or not the Luzerne St. Tavern folk will watch the
computer play itself for quasi-entertainment and betting purposes.
Random stuff going on:
- Apparently there are a terrorist or two still running around in buffalo,
yay. I’m sure the same cops who arrested a country singer last year for
riding a county sherrif horse will have no trouble finding them.
- Last sunday the bills one of the most exciting games I’ve watched them play
in years. No lie, I listened to the last hour of it in my car, in a parking
lot at RIT, making me miss a PSP meeting (sorry bout that). The game was that
good.
- At work today, I passed around the giant 30 page
doc I’ve spent a month putting together for comments to some higher ups. An
hour later the guy in the office that everyone thinks is an ass has my boss
bring me to meet him so he can shake my hand and tell me its the best work
he’s seen in a year, he’s glad someone finally “gets it”, and that Joe (my
boss) should hire me on the spot. Two hours later, another guy emails me, and
rips the thing to pieces. Go figure. (Needless to say, guy #2 is my ass-clown
of the week.)
Well, once again B-lo is in the national spotlight, can we please get some
good PR? Story
here.

Well, the blog is finally operational. It’s Friday ( the day of drink) so I’ll
be working on this for just a while longer, then off to better things.
In the meantime, check out the headling from CNN last night (chris b has
already submittted it to bacon, maybe this will be post #2 for the apartment).
