I’m truly lucky to have so many great friends. Thank you all for coming out
and enjoying this weekend with me. It was an absolute blast, and worth the
cold/hangover I’m working with today. You know I’ll be keeping in touch, as
it looks like Rochester will be my home for a little longer.

Yeah buddy, no more classes! I spent the day preparing for the summer, sitting
around and looking for work. To kill the time I’ve been sharpening up my IT
skillz in different subjects. It looks like I may be doing some freelance
work in the near future, so thats a positive. The odds of me and banner doing
landscaping for the summer are getting bigger and bigger. Not that I think
that will be a bad thing neccessarily, I have a small pile of cash to sit on
for a while, and grunt work will definetly help out with beer and woman money.
And yeah, like a good college boy I went out and saw Matrix:
Reloaded. It’s good, but not as good as the first. The first really
blows you away, while this one builds the story. Good overall though, and I’m
anxiously awaiting Revolutions, which comes out in November.
So yeah, last week of class. It’s only fitting that my last week of IT
classes showcase the biggest display of retardation I’ve seen in a while.
(This story is slighty tech heavy but bear with me). Goobers A, B, & C are
giving a presentation on firewalls. They started off half respectful, then
went down the crapper. No mention of new firewall techniques (layers of
protection), diagrams that were incorrect/possibly plagerized, etc. The top
off was when they were asked about the purpose of a DMZ (a secuity zone, which
is a BASIC FUCKING CONCEPT and should be known by ANYONE in IT, let along
SENIORS giving a report on the technology). Well guess what, they bullshit
some answer thats completely off base. Even the lazy bastard teacher was
amazed at this.
So these fuckers get the same degree as me in 2 weeks, woo hoo! I mean, can’t
we take away 100 credits or so from these guys and send them back 2 years on
their education? Yikes.

So much going on, so little time to talk. It’s week nine now, and its the
final push till graduation, which currently sits 18 days away. I have to write
four papers of varying lengths by the end of teh week, then its clear sailing.
Most of that work is for Senior Sem, which I actually have enjoyed (I took it
with Flemming, highly recommended).
One of the papers I have to write is going to be on X-Men 2, obviously for my
film class. I saw the movie opening night, and was very impressed. It was
very entertaining, and I found many of the themes and ideas I’ve learned in
my film class to be applied (Don’t be suprised, the director is the man who
directed The Usual Suspects). I’m going to watch it again this week to
gain more insight, but I really think I’ll enjoy writing this paper.
On to bad news…as some of you may already know, my first job choice fell
through this past week. It’s been over two months since I interviewed with
them, so I wasn’t as attached as I was at the time, but it still sucks. The
job seemed like it had a lot of potential, and the interview itself went
great. Who knows, it’ll work out. As a result, I’ve been tossing my resume to
anyone who would look at it. During this process I’ve learned that a certain
small, local company receives roughly 5000 (!) submissions from Monster PER
WEEK. Holy shit, think about that for a minute, they can’t have more then like
5 jobs posted, but that many people apply. So needless to say, I’m not
searching monster that much anymore, it’s a waste of my time. What’s that
leave me with? I’m still looking at working for the Government, because they
actually seem to be hiring. I’m also tossing out some applications to local
companies, so who knows where I’ll end up.
Bah, hire me!
