Archive for June, 2003

Blah, so if you didn’t hear, I had my wisdom teeth out monday. I was
suprisingly fine afterwards, no groginess or pain at all. I was back on solid
foods by that night. Of course my dumb ass decides that I don’t need the pain
pills anymore, so each day since has greeted me with a sore jaw. Luckily I
finally smarted up today and took one this morning, so I can enjoy the DMB
show I’m hitting up later today (thanks to Stompey and his invisible
girlfriend deciding they couldn’t go :) ).

Oh yeah, in geek news, I picked up a dirt cheap hard drive yesterday, 160 gig
for $99. Rock!

Saw a bit of news on ESPN today that made me smile. Pat LaFontaine, former
Sabres captain will be inducted into the hall of fame. For those of you not in
the know, LaFontaine was one of the best US hockey players ever, and a model
citizen to boot. There are dozens of stories of him helping out the Make a
Wish foundation, Children’s Hospital, et al. Truly the most classy athelete
to ever play in Buffalo. His career ended early because of concussions,
mainly for his fearless play. The guy would take the puck full speed towards
the net, taking any hit that came his way.

Yeah, two hockey posts in June, whoda thought.

Boring hockey wins again. In case you missed it, the Devils beat the Ducks in
game 7 last night, winning the Stanely Cup. A couple things I dont like, 1)
the Devils originated the trap over 10 years, which has taken hockey from
entertaining to crap on ice. Talented players are either bogged down by
opponents with the talent of a minor leaguer, or are asked to play defensive
hockey by their own coach (case in point, Paul Karya, who’s coached figured
it’d be better to have one of the best players give up his main talent to play
more defensively). 2) Their from New Jersey, singly handedly the worst part
of the east coast, and home to plenty of classless fans. When J.S. Gigure won
the Conn Smythe, they booed, what classless fans.

Nerd becomes
player.
Absolutely hilarious, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it’s an RIT
kid.

Home cooked meals kick ass, as does Mighty Taco.
