Erg, finding clients is not a fun activity, but one I’m working on getting
better at. I swear, I’m completely comfortable in all the technical sides of
my busiess, and I’m even comfortable with the accounting and money management.
But the marketing and business side is still eluding me. So far I have one
semi-client, and one maybe from scouring the Internet job boards. I also have
a list of 50ish local businesses who will be getting a personal letter from
me, offering services. Luckily, I have some very good friends helping me out
with my deficiencies so far.
In other news, I’m officialy on the Howard Dean bandwagon. As some of
you may know, I had been vowing to vote for Al Sharpton in protest of the
Democrat’s lack of ability to do anything that could be construed as a winning
strategy. Kinda like rooting for your team to lose once they’re out of the
playoff race so they get a better draft pick the next year. But this Dean
charactor seems to actually be winning and having people take notice of him.
I like his policies and the fact that his platform is not “I like Bush, you
midas well vote for him” like every other Democrat has been for the past three
years. Should be fun to see where this goes.

No personal updates, but a link to a very
good op-ed piece on Citizen Kane. Excellent reading.

Ugh, long couple of days. Ironically enough, the best day this week was that
of the blackout, it got me off my lazy ass and out into the sun. Me, the
roomies and the neighbors ended up having a block party, good times. Now we
got more people in our bar hopping posse.
Bidness is slow but steady, I’ve spent this week dealing with the non_IT
issues, which is probobly why I’ve found it to be frustrating. I now have my
DBA, PO Box and domain. On the todo list is to get the website developed and
hosted, and start pimping out the company name. So if you the reader know
anyone who would be interested in my IT consulting services, let me know.

Well, I got the letter from ITS today, but it was the wrong one (Thanks, but
no thanks). Hey, these things happen. I’m actually happy to have the stress of
waiting off me. Now I’m on to my plan B, my own business! Stay tuned for more
info. As soon as I hammer down a name and website, details will be here.
Let’s see where this goes…
Still playing the job waiting game. Some links I’ve found to keep you
entertained. The first is commentary by my
roommate, Chris, on music today. Very good read, a lot of stuff I agree with.
The second is an article from Everything2 on Xerox PARC. From my work at Xerox, I have
a special interested in these guys. I always knew the invented a lot of shit
that they just gave away, but I had no idea how much. Good story. Finally, a
web page of a friend from RIT, who is a medical illustrator. That opening shot
definetly wins most eye-catching web site.

So here we are friday morning and still no word from RIT. I’ve moved past the
stress part of waiting, and I’m now in the contingency plan state. I’ve tossed
out another dozen resumes this week (with one promising lead another position
at RIT, ironically enough). I’ve also to resolved to get my business
officially started the same day if the news from the RIT job is not what I
want to hear. I’ll keep you all updated.
