Damn, when
will these kids learn?

The first rule of teacher sex club is you do not talk about teacher sex
club!

Damn, when
will these kids learn?

I’m rich, biatch!

So, 13 months after graduating from RIT, bumming around and building up a
pretty solid freelance gig, I have a full-time offer on the table from Xerox.
It’s a great position, interesting project and a good team. I think I’m
equally excited about having a job and not having to job hunt anymore for the
foreseeable future.

Of course, I’m still going to work my freelance gig, I have 2-3 new clients
coming in, so I’m gonna be running at burnout mode for a month or two, maybe
its time to start delegating work to others :).

In other news, who else has been watching Ken bitch slap Jeopardy! The last
three weeks? This guy is incredible, over half a million won and he’s never
even been challenged. Internet rumors put him at 40+ straight wins. Wild
stuff.

And my (not so) bold prediction, Fahrenheit 911 will top $80 million dollars.
I put down a hundred originally, but the smallish initial release means it
would really have to snowball to hit 100, 80 is definitely possible though.

Doldrums

Apologies for the lack of updates, I’ve lost the muse to write the past
week or so. Soon enough…

Drinking before noon with wenches is good for you.

Either July 10 or 11 (sat or sun) the LST crew will be hitting up the
Sterling RenFest, its buy one get one admissions. Great food, great beer, and
midevil eve candy all await. If you want to join us, just let me know.

If you were my wife, I’d massage your feet every night until you fell
asleep.

So if you’ve been within earshot of me in the last month, you’ve heard me
babble about how I’ve started running around the city. I absolutely love it,
which is odd as I’ve hated running for as long as I can remember. For
whatever reason I really got into this spring, and I’m up to like 3+ miles on
a good day.

The downside of it has bit me in the ass this week. Running in old crappy
shoes started beating up my feat, and I somehow managed to bruise/strain both
of my feet in the past few days. Ironically enough, I bought running shoes the
day of my foot starting to act up. So after limping around yesterday and this
morning my foot finally stops hurting. My dumb ass figures .hey, my foot feels
ok, lets break in those new shoes!.. Yeah, half mile in my foot decides to go
on strike and let the pain loose. So yeah, now I have to stare at my nice new
running shoes for a couple days while my stump gets better.

Movies

A few days late, but birthdays tend to put other things on hold.

Kill Bill 2 - Better then the first by far, and I really enjoyed the first. I really enjoy what Tarantino does, excellent cinematography, great story, along with having the most influence on movie dialouge in recent memory. He’s a
geek’s geek, unashamedly putting the art side of film into movies for the
masses. He can make a violent film an intelligent film, and seemingly inane
conversations memorable for what they reveal of the speaker. I’d pay to watch
this guy film his kids birthday party, he’s that good.

Supersize Me - Being a love/hate fan of Michael Moore, I do have a soft spot for liberal progressive documentaries. This one man show is entertaining,
funny and a great wakeup call for those with terrible eating habits (of which
I’m trying to recuse myself). The movie does have its warts. The first is the
girlfriend, or as I call her, crazy vegan woman. She did bring in some great
unintentional comedy, but she wears thin. The bigger wart is some of the
storytelling, mainly the forced melodrama that really just came across as
awkward and stiff. I will tip my hat to a man who found something to be angry
about and actually did something to fix it (McD’s has since discontinued its
supersize options).

Birthday

Yeah, I’m 23. Send presents/money. :)

Entertainment Snapshot

Thought now would be a nice time to share what I’ve been consuming as
entertainment these days.

Books

Recently finished The Davinci Code and Angels and Demons (both by Dan
Brown). Good books, definitely flavor of the month. Both follow the same
basic story line with the same plot twists (and the same main character).
Brown also shows a slight resemblance to Neal Stephenson (of Cryptonomicon
fame) in being a great author for geeks (theological geeks in this case,
versus computer geeks for Stephenson). The amount of detail learned about
Rome and European churches in these books is impressive to say the least.

Just yesterday I picked up two books at Barnes and Nobles, The Code
Book and Lullaby. I have yet to even touch the former, so I’ll hold off
judgment. Lullaby is by Chuck Palahniuk, whose first book was Fight Club.
Chuck is my favorite current author by far, combining great social commentary
wrapped up in very dark comedy/tragedy. I still rank Fight Club as the most
gripping book I’ve ever read. The story and philosophy of modern culture was
just perfect, and the violent repercussions really hit a chord with those who
experienced it. I also give the movie credit for staying very close to the
book, and have even defended the movie as being just as good (if not better)
then the book in its storytelling.

Since FC, I’ve read three other Palahniuk books, Invisible Monsters (which I
thought had a better premise then FC, but fell short), Survivor (great and
funny), and Choke, which was a piece of shit. This newest book though has me
hooked in three chapters. Chapter 3 was classic, grade A Palahniuk. Long
sentences talking of society’s darkness, almost a primal feel, building up
towards the end. Think of the song on the Fight Club of Brad Pitt talking his
manifesto over a techno track, you’ll know what I mean. I have a feeling this
book will be a great read.

Coming tomorrow, movies.
