Movies
A few days late, but birthdays tend to put other things on hold.
Kill Bill 2 - Better then the first by far, and I really enjoyed the first. I really enjoy what Tarantino does, excellent cinematography, great story, along with having the most influence on movie dialouge in recent memory. He’s a
geek’s geek, unashamedly putting the art side of film into movies for the
masses. He can make a violent film an intelligent film, and seemingly inane
conversations memorable for what they reveal of the speaker. I’d pay to watch
this guy film his kids birthday party, he’s that good.
Supersize Me - Being a love/hate fan of Michael Moore, I do have a soft spot for liberal progressive documentaries. This one man show is entertaining,
funny and a great wakeup call for those with terrible eating habits (of which
I’m trying to recuse myself). The movie does have its warts. The first is the
girlfriend, or as I call her, crazy vegan woman. She did bring in some great
unintentional comedy, but she wears thin. The bigger wart is some of the
storytelling, mainly the forced melodrama that really just came across as
awkward and stiff. I will tip my hat to a man who found something to be angry
about and actually did something to fix it (McD’s has since discontinued its
supersize options).
