Leave it to the NHL to have a lame imitation of what the other leagues are doing:
NFL: Dog fighting scandal
NBA: refs fixing games
MLB: steroid user about to break all time home run record
NHL: Canadian brothers arrested for being a bit too rowdy at a bachelor party. I heard they stayed up past their bedtime and made prank phone calls too! Scandal!

Angela, being the great lady friend she is, bought me the Godfather for the wii for my Birthday. Myelf, being the lazy sloth I’m known to be, didnt play it for a month, instead spending time trying to rewrite the sabres season on NHL 2007 and playing with the xbox live arcade (plus some online card game for money, lots of that). Anyway, I finally started playing it this weekend and fell in love with it. I only casually played the GTA series (mainly I lived vicariously through Berg’s attempt to virtually drive & crash cars), but this game has me. The mash of GTA style missions and large 3D world coupled with the movie’s storyline is a great mix, and the wiimote controls are great (simulated baseball bat, strangling, thowing corrupt police off the roof, all great stuff). If you have a chance, i highly recommend the game.
Well that was a rough 24 hours for the sabres, losing both captains. Before the playoffs this year, I figured that Drury would be overvalued because of his national exposure, and we should work to keep Briere. However, after their respective playoff performances, I changed course and figured we should keep drury and let Briere go (mainly because we have plenty of small skilled forwards and could use the $ saved to diversify with a big defensemen or power forward). Sadly, Drury wanted no part of staying in Buffalo and Briere got to free agency with a monster deal (prediction for his stats next year, 27-45-72, +5, and a lot of disapointed Flyers fans who realized they overspent for a 70 point a year player).
In retrospect, we should have made a bigger run at Briere, we really didn’t try to hard to resign him at all. Going forward, we have plenty of cap space to get that winger or d man (Souray from the Canadians would alleviate all my worries), so I’ll withhold my big worries until November.
