So I finally launched my pet project this morning, HomesickFan.com. I’d like it to be a comprehensive index of sports bars for out of town fans. In theory I’ll be able to put up some adsense, stubhub, ebay links and make a little coin too. Check it out, let me know what you think.

Also, I used amazon mechanical turk to gather the information, very cool application.

Back on the horse!

God it’s hard to root for the Bills. I think the below quote from Good Will Hunting sums up the process.

Sean: My dad used to make us walk down to the park and collect the sticks he was going to beat us with. Actually the worst of the beatings were between me and my brother. We would practice on each other, trying to find sticks that would break.
Will: He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the kitchen table and say, “Choose.”
Sean: Gotta go with the belt, there.
Will: I used to go with the wrench.
Sean: The wrench, why?
Will: ‘Cause fuck him, that’s why.

Leave it to the NHL to have a lame imitation of what the other leagues are doing:

NFL: Dog fighting scandal
NBA: refs fixing games
MLB: steroid user about to break all time home run record
NHL: Canadian brothers arrested for being a bit too rowdy at a bachelor party. I heard they stayed up past their bedtime and made prank phone calls too! Scandal!

I got a  txt from the lady this afternoon from the lady that she has passed the california state line. She’ll be in San Diego tonight and make her way up north tomorrow, ending her 10 day (!) cross country tour. I’d love to do an MS paint blog of each spot she hit, but I just can’t get the energy up :)  All in all I’m really excited for the whole situation, Lauren anxiously awaits the hillarity that will be me living with a girl on a daily basis, I really can’t argue the point.

Other recent highlights:

  • my ankle has been at 95% for 2 weeks now, and refuses to go back to 100%, maybe because I refuse to rest it.
  • While looking for aptartments this weekend, I made the rookie mistake of checking out a place I knew I coudln’t afford, a gorgeous 2br townhouse with an ocean view at Baker Beach. Stunning view and every amenity I was looking for, and only $300/month above my absolute ceiling.
  • A new Don Jay highlight quote, where I jokingly made a remark about me being a possible child kidnapper to a woman’s 5 year old, both of whom I met about 5 minutes before.
  • In anticipation of the Bill’s 5-11 fever this year, I’ve adopted some new teams. Don’t worry, I still fully support Bill Simmon’s rules on sports poligamy, so I’m not dumping the Bills, merely adding new fall sports to follow. First off, I’ve chosen to follow Stanford football (it’s college, so it’s not cheating on the bills). It was either them or Cal, and I’d rather associate  with Stanford girls then the hairy yuppies over in East Bay. Also, another sports guy related idea; I’m going to see if I can follow along and chear for Arsenal in the Enlighs Premiership soccer league. I always liked the world cup, so let’s see if I can follow along on a daily basis (the other two teams I considered were Man City & Chelsa, but arsenal seemed right).

Oh burn. that just hurts

Wow, just wow. 4 or 5 marquee players available to the bills with the #8 pick (including Matt Leinart) and we take a nobody Safety from OSU. I just can’t believe it. Marv Levy is a senile old man, and has quickly burned through all his good karma with the town. The coach he hired over a proven winner, the extra money he through to Price and Favre’s backup that he didnt need to spend, I just have a horrible feeling.
